Are you feeling depressed?

It’s not uncommon to feel sad every now and again. Sometimes you may feel down because of something that happened – a disappointment, a break-up, a conflict with a friend, or a tragic situation. Sometimes you feel sad and don’t even know why you feel that way. There are things you can do to reduce the feelings of sadness in your life like having a good support network, focusing on positive thoughts or prioritizing good self care.

For some of people, these strategies for dealing with sadness or depression don't do the job. Ongoing or persistent sadness could be clinical depression – a medical condition that can affect your ability to work, study, interact with others or enjoy your life. It can be caused by imbalances in your brain chemistry. It can also be caused by things that happen to you such as stresstraumatic eventsrelationship problems or break-ups, physical illness, or lack of sleep.

Sometimes it can be difficult to differentiate between general feelings of sadness and depression. So if you’re worried that you might be depressed, let's talk about ways that I can help you. If you’re dealing with depression, the sooner you get help and start treatment the sooner you will feel better.
